Violation of obligatory laws, haram, and prohibited acts are obstacles in the way of acceptance of prayers. Because through these actions, the servant's relationship with Allah is severed. So Allah does not accept their prayers. When people are in danger, they pray to be free from danger. Does not pray for health or good condition. In this regard Nabiji sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
'You used to know Allah in a good state Sheikh; Only then will Allah
recognize you in a state of danger.'
1. If you disobey Allah and pray
Allah Ta'ala said about Hazrat Yunus alaihis salam, 'If he had not been
among those who glorified him earlier, he would have stayed in the belly of a
fish until the Day of Resurrection.'
And Allah Ta'ala said in the Qur'an about Pharaoh, 'When the water
drowned Pharaoh, he said, I believe, (God says) now? Before this you disobeyed
and you were among the mischief-makers.'
In these two verses, it is clearly said to obey Allah's orders and stay
away from prohibited acts for accepting prayers.
Hazrat Yunus Alaihis Salam was loyal and obedient to Allah and obeyed
Allah's orders. So his prayer was accepted. On the other hand, Pharaoh was
disobedient to God and did not follow His orders. So his prayers and repentance
were not accepted.
2. Doing illegal work
Consuming food and drink with haram income and wearing clothes with haram
money are the biggest hindrances in accepting dua. In this context, there is a
hadith-
'Whoever raises both hands to the sky, O Lord! O Lord! Praying. But his
food is Haram, his drink is Haram, his clothes are Haram and his flesh and
blood is made of Haram. How will his prayer be accepted?' (Muslim)
Nabiji also said, 'Sanctify the food, then your prayers will be
accepted.'
3. Shirk and innovation
Dua is not accepted due to shirk and innovation. Allah says:
'Call upon Allah and be sincere and devoted to His religion.'
The root of sincerity and devotion is to stay away from shirk and
innovation. Those who associate gods, grave dwellers, nobles, shrines and other
things with Allah and seek their help, their prayers will not be accepted.
Because Allah says:
'Do not call anyone else with Allah.'
The grave priests call for acceptance of prayers on behalf of the dead
and say, We are requesting acceptance of prayers on behalf of so-and-so or on
behalf of his honor. This prayer of theirs is shirk and innovation.
Because Allah Ta'ala has not ordered anyone to pray as a middle man or as
an intercessor. Rather, he directly instructed him to pray to him, saying,
'Pray to me, I will accept it.'
But the prayer is accepted
In the hadith it is mentioned to pray for good deeds. It is as if three
persons blocked by a stone in a cave prayed by mentioning their three good
deeds, Allah Ta'ala accepted their prayers and removed the stone blocking the
mouth of the cave and freed them. So not a good person, but a good deed can be
presented as a resource. But Allah Ta'ala ordered him to pray without any
means.
4. Ignorance and indifference
Allah Ta'ala does not accept the supplications of a heedless and dull
minded person. It has been mentioned in the hadith-
Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Nabiji Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam said, 'Supplicate to Allah in such a way that you have firm
belief that it will be accepted. You know! Allah does not accept the
supplications of the heedless and dull minded.' (Mustadra Hakeem)
5. Not doing good deeds and not preventing bad deeds
Hazrat Huzaifa Bin Yaman Radiyallahu Anhu narrated, Nabiji Sallallahu
Alaihi Wa Sallam said, 'By Allah in Whose Hand is my life! Either you enjoin
good deeds and forbid evil deeds, or He will soon send upon you His punishment;
Then you will pray to him, he will not accept the prayer.' (Tirmidhi)
Hazrat Ali Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, Nabiji Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam
said, 'Dua is the tool of the believer and the pillar of religion and the light
of the heavens and the earth.' (Mustadra Hakeem)
6. Don't rush
Nabiji sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, if you rush to accept the
prayer, the prayer will not be accepted. (Muslim, Tirmidhi)
Therefore, a Muslim believer should refrain from all actions that hinder the acceptance of prayers. Pray slowly with pure and pure intention. To pray according to the guidance of the Qur'an-Sunnah. And that prayer will be accepted in Allah.
